Today we’re announcing the full release of our latest product, Stories.
As the Product Manager on Stories, I’m proud of the work our team has put in over the past 6 months to translate one of the hottest formats on social media to the open Web. Stories provides a rich storytelling format on the front end, with best-in-class tools on the backend to help you build Stories in a matter of minutes.
In this blog post, I want to tell you more about our inspiration for launching Stories and the tools you now have available.
The Rise of Stories
Though Snapchat invented them, Instagram made Stories popular. A few stats reported by Instagram capture the trend:
Today, there are over 500 million active daily Instagram Stories.
70% of Instagram users watch stories daily.
70% of Stories are watched with the sound on.
Brands Are Investing in Stories
Users aren’t the only ones flocking to Stories. Instagram reports that 33% of all Story views occur on content posted by brands. The appeal has spread to a wide range of brands across industries, with 50% of the businesses on Instagram actively posting Stories.
Brands have embraced the storytelling capabilities, creating Stories that serve as product demos, tutorials, behind-the-scenes looks, influencer takeovers, mini-documentaries, event countdowns, and a whole lot more.
Now that brands have discovered the power of Stories, what comes next?
Taking Stories to the Open Web
Stories are common on the social platforms, but are still stuck behind the walled gardens. At Polar, our mission is to build the bridge between social media and the open Web, bringing innovation where it is needed most. We’ve built our new Stories product with two audiences in mind:

We’ve launched a Stories toolkit that allows our partners to build Stories in a matter of minutes. Our self-serve tools allow you to repurpose existing social assets, customize them as needed, and generate the tags needed to run them across a single publisher site or across the open Web.
